    WANG YIYANG

Wang Yiyang (1970) graduated in 1992 from the Fashion Institute of Design at Dong Hua University, Shanghai. In the same year, he stayed at school and became a teacher. Between 1997-2001 he worked as chief designer of Layfe brand of Yifei finery. In 2002 he established ZUCZUG brand and holds the position of top designer. ZUCZUG is characterized by a sober and empathically conceptual look. In 2004, ZUGZUG was named the Most Promising Designer Brand, and Wang Yiyang received the Fashion Changning Sharp New Designer Award. ZUCZUG has retail stores in major Chinese cities like Shanghai, Hangzhou, Wuhan, and Hong Kong. The brand is also distributed internationally to Japan, Singapore, France, Belgium, and other countries. 2004 saw the debut of "CHAGANG", a series of independent designs, which is considered one of Shanghai's representative fashion labels. His first collection, summer 2005, is called Blue , the 2005-2006 winter collection 'Grey'.

(Wang Yiyang is concerned about the influence of globalization which seduces many younger Chinese designers into an indiscriminate embrace of foreign influences, while others just superficially copy the Chinese tradition. To Yiyang the present clean state situation offers the challenge of using both forms of knowledge to create a new Chinese style, based on strong personal convictions and personal sources of inspiration.
