    MA QINGYUN / MADA S.P.A.M.

Qingyun Ma studied architecture at the Tsinghua University in China, and received his masters' degree at the University of Pennsylvania. After graduating in 1990 he worked as a designer in KPF in the United States until 1994. In 1995 he established MADA in New York, and in 1999 he opened MADA offices in Beijing and Shanghai.

Major projects of MADA are the Urban Museum, the News Cultural Center, the Campus and Library of the Zhejiang University (all in Ningpo, China), the BOYA Court in Beijing and the H.I.P. in Beijing, which is under construction.

His work has been presented throughout the world in exhibitions and publications. Exhibitions include the Venice Biennale, the Shanghai Biennale and Center Pompidou. Arch+, Architectural Record, Bauwelt and SD Review are among the magazines publishing MADA's work.

From 1995-1999 Qingyun Ma has been consequently assistant chairman of the Architectural Department at Shenzhen University, research coordinator of the Harvard Project on Cities (launched by Rem Koolhaas), and lecturer at the School of Fine Art, University of Pennsylvania.
