People's Architecture

In his presentation Means of Patronage Andrew Yang, architectural journalist, explores why China is such a good place for architecture. Following China's transformation from close by during the last two year, Yang analyzes the projects for Jinwai SOHO (Beijing), Jinhua Architectural Park (Jinhua) and 50 Moganshan Lu (Shanghai) as three key project to understand the shifting aspects of patronage, leading to a description of the potentials and dangers facing China's longing for modern architecture. He asks himself what's driving certain developers and governments to commission very outstanding architects rather then the architects that dominate cities like Beijing. A question leading up to the following statement: SOHO China is one of the most shining examples of how developers have embraced architecture.
