1st International Conference on China Planning and Development | BEIJING | CHINA Conference Background and Perspective City planning is the blueprint for a city development and also the basis for a city's construction and management. City environment improvement and vitality strengthening require scientific and appropriate city planning. The first 20 years in the 21st century is an important period for fully building a well-off society in China, and also a key period for speeding up the development of urbanization. On one hand, scientific city planning will bring significant economic and social benefits to a city; if there is any mistake in consideration of the city planning, it may bring the city a serious damage and resources waste. Based on this, the city planning plays a big role in leading and controlling the healthy development of a city and even the whole area. On the other hand, the western developed countries, which have already completed the process of urbanization, will provide the precious experience and lessons for China's urbanization. The correct adoption of their experience will ensure a smooth urbanization in China and other developing countries without any detour or wrong decision. Hereby, the Chinese Ministry of Construction, together with other domestic and international authoritative organizations, decides to hold the 1st International Conference of China City Planning and Development & the 3rd China Planning Network Annual Conference in Beijing. The conference aims at strengthening the communication and cooperation in the field of city planning between China and western countries; and with the concept of Scientific Development, driving the development of Chinese cities in an all-around, harmonious and sustainable way. Meanwhile, the conference will focus on the annual hot topics of Chinese urbanization, integrate the leading-edge intelligent resources, provide the policies and strategies of the most advanced technologies in the field of city development and planning. The conference will actively maintain the closest links with the home and abroad authoritative city planning organizations and individuals who pay a great concern to Chinese city planning and development. We will make every effort to establish the most comprehensive and authoritative platform for exchanges in city development and planning between eastern and western countries. The conference participants include mayors, leaders and experts from municipal planning administrations, institutions and planning bureaus around China; experts, scholors and researchers from the fields of city planning, transportation, public sanitation and environmental protection; experts, faculties and students both from home and overseas colleges of city planning and design; famous real estate developers and city planning experts all over the world; experts and professionals from companies of planning and design, environmental design, garden and landscaping design.
